About the Ranger Program
The Ranger Program is dedicated to empowering youth through hands-on experiences in nature. Our mission is to foster a connection with the wilderness while teaching essential survival skills. We are seeking passionate and skilled instructors to join our dynamic team and inspire the next generation of outdoor enthusiasts and wilderness skills instructors.

Position Overview
As a Youth Survival Skills Instructor, you will lead ½ hour engaging, educational sessions focused on wilderness survival & primitive living techniques. You will create a safe and inclusive environment for participants, instilling confidence and a love for the outdoors. This role is perfect for individuals who are not only skilled in survival techniques but also passionate about mentoring and working with young people. This position allows instructors to do what they love while having free time to pursue passions and be with family.
Key Responsibilities

Instruction: Teach a variety of survival skills, including shelter building, fire-making, foraging, navigation, and first aid & more.

Curriculum Development: Collaborate with program coordinators to develop and refine lesson plans that engage youth and meet learning objectives in your location.

Safety Management: Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants during outdoor activities. Conduct risk assessments and implement safety protocols.

Mentorship: Foster a supportive environment that encourages personal growth, teamwork, and confidence among participants.

Communication: Effectively communicate with youth, parents, and program directors to provide updates on program activities.

Supply Wild Materials.: As an instructor it will be your responsibility to harvest and procure wild materials and purchase certain supplies from the store. Instructors receive a gas and materials charge card to buy supplies and reimburse for fuel costs driving to classes.

Qualifications

Experience: Proven experience in wilderness survival skills and outdoor education. Previous experience working with youth in educational or recreational settings is highly desirable.

Passion: A strong passion for nature and a commitment to sharing that love with young people.

Skills: Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills. Ability to engage and inspire youth of diverse backgrounds.

Certifications: Current certifications in First Aid and CPR are Required. Wilderness First Responder certification is a plus.

Background Check: All potential Instructors must pass a background check and be able to work with youth of all ages.
Driving Record: Must be able to provide us with a clean driving record for the last 2 years with no more than 1 accident where you were not at fault in the last 2 years.

As a Youth Survival Skills Instructor for the Ranger Program, you will enjoy a compensation structure designed to reward your hard work and dedication. Below is an overview of your pay and benefits:

Revenue Share:

Instructors earn 70% of the tuition collected for classes in their teaching location during the first year.

Instructors will receive 80% of the tuition for classes in their area starting in the second year.

Camp Earnings:

Instructors can earn up to $4,000 per camp during peak months of June and July, depending on class size and enrollment.

Additional Benefits

Gas Card: Instructors receive a $125 gas card each month to cover travel expenses to and from teaching locations, ensuring you can focus on your classes without worrying about fuel costs.

Material Card: A class material card is provided for purchasing necessary supplies, allowing you to equip your classes with the tools needed for effective learning. This is up to $125 per month.

Example Earnings
For example, if you conduct several camps throughout June and July, your earnings can significantly increase based on class sizes and the number of camps you teach, along with the revenue share from tuition.

The Youth Survival Instructor Training (Tryout) is a unique opportunity for aspiring instructors to showcase their skills, learn new techniques, and practice teaching in a supportive environment. Over five immersive days, potential instructors will demonstrate their expertise in survival skills while engaging in hands-on learning and mock teaching sessions.
